As we gather for the Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany, we will read and reflect on the Gospel story of the calling of the first disciples of Jesus' ministry. The number of people coming to Jesus caused the crowd size to grow so great that Jesus needed to teach them from a boat just off the shore. The boat was owned by Peter, who was with his friends, and so began a relationship that would last the rest of their lives. The call of the disciples occurs as Jesus finds these faithful and courageous people, who are willing to trust their lives and their futures to God's only Son. We will discuss how Jesus is in our lives, and how Jesus invites us to be faithful and courageous people as well.
