We gather on the First Sunday in Lent and reflect on God's covenant with Noah and all creation in the aftermath of the great flood. From the beginning verses of Genesis, we experience the complex story of human behavior, which seems to be an ever-increasing drama of selfishness and violence. An exasperated God finally hits the "reboot" button with the great flood, but preserves creation through the leadership of his servant Noah. God now sets a covenant with Noah, promising that the great chaos of the universe will never again come flooding down on all creation. We will reflect on the meanings of God's covenant with creation and the hope we discover with the promise of seeing God's rainbow.

Our Scripture passage is found in the Book of Genesis. You may find the Scripture lesson by selecting the following link: (Genesis 9:8-17).
